Senior Account Executive
About the role
We are looking for a skilled communications professional to join our US team as a Senior Account Executive (SAE). SAE's have mastered the skills of an AE and have moved on to managing projects, working with a high degree of independence. They have proven experience working on campaigns and programs across various disciplines and are pivotal in the bridging of planning to execution, accomplishing most work with just a ‘gut-check’ from managers or account leads. Both a project and emerging people manager, the SAE performs day-to-day account work while beginning to oversee others’ work. Confident in communicating directly, clients now recognize the SAE as one of the go-to on the team. An outstanding SAE is equally capable as either an independent operator or project partner—whatever the situation calls for. They’re comfortable initiating and owning key media and deliverables or teaming up with an AC or VP on new initiatives.
At a minimum...
- Clients trust the SAE for both strategic and tactical recommendations, as well as day-to-day updates on projects they own.
- SAEs should see themselves as ‘first line of defense’ when it comes to client questions and requests. They’re learning how to manage their clients including: setting/meeting clear expectations, updating clients regularly, pushing back as needed and navigating challenging client situations.
- They are task masters who translate strategy into execution, ensuring projects are completed on time and up to Archetype standards, providing direct feedback, managing up and flagging challenges and opportunities.
- At this level, SAEs are strong and consistent results drivers for their teams, securing regular media coverage and speaking/award opportunities, while also providing strong contributions to research, planning, content and any other client needs with minimal oversight or revision.
- SAEs are developing the ability to assess individual and team performance and help to direct and teach junior staff.
- Learning from Account Leads, SAEs take on responsibilities in strategic planning and account direction.
What You’ll Need:
- 3-4+ years of experience in Public Relations, Communications, or marketing
- Prior experience within the technology industry (consumer, enterprise, security, etc.) preferred
- Strong writing, editing, research, and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple priorities with grace
- Positive energy, a collaborative spirit, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves
- Passion for technology, media, and the evolving communications landscape
- A bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field
- A sense of humor—and the grit to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to work 2 days/week from one of our office hubs (San Francisco or New York)
